The SRPD Methodology Changes The Life Of Nyamahungye Yasinta To a Better Living Standard

Nyamahungye Yasinta is 54 years old. She is a female change agent that was trained in 1996. She is from Kihukya Ward, Busiisi Division, Hoima District in Western Uganda. Before UCAA trained Yacinta, she was a peasant farmer and was not well exposed to different opportunities. She used to struggle to earn a living with low levels of income. She had little knowledge and skills in proper management and prioritization of her family needs with limited bargaining knowledge and skills for fundraising.

“I really appreciate UCAA for providing me with great knowledge and skills. The Change Agent Training opened my mind and UCAA continues and provided me with trainings for Trainer of Trainers, fundraising training, Accountancy and management trainings, Disaster Risk Reduction trainings and Audit trainings among others and I’m really grateful” Yasinta acknowledged

Yasinta is exposed within her community and is able to capture the different opportunities at different levels with confidence. She is able to participate in community meetings, sub county meetings, and has always been invited to attend some networking meetings at the district and national level and she confidently submits her views. “I’m happy that I’m part of the citizens that are informed and able to contribute to the decisions taken within the local government for the development of our nation Uganda” She said.

“With the knowledge and skills I gained from UCAA, I’m as well equipped to contribute to the improvement of peoples’ standards of living and a big number of people within my community approach me for guidance and I normally provide voluntarily in most cases” She added. Yasinta has shown hard work and participates in various ranges of places in her community including participating in church programs, she is involved in savings and credit groups, engaged by the government and other NGOs by winning some training contracts, e.g in 2018, she was engaged by ECOTRUST to conduct various trainings.

“Through all the mentioned engagements, I have managed to mobilize resources and have been able to improve my family standards of living and contribute to other peoples’ improved standards of living. I have managed to guide and educate my children to the highest levels of education recommended in Uganda. Five (5) of my children have graduated in different fields with degrees and diplomas and one acquired vocational and Technical skills and are all working thus are self-reliant. Long live UCAA” Yasinta mentioned as she concluded.
