The Success Of Ntege Lovin

Ntege Lovin (60) is a female change agent from Ssango Parish, Bunoma Sub County, Mpigi District in South Central Region. She was selected by Uganda Change Agent Association on 20th March 2005 to undertake a Change Agent Training (CAT) course which she attended and completed.

Before encountering with UCAA, she was a primary teacher and a peasant farmer. She also used to do some poultry keeping. “After attending the CAT course, there was great change in my life. Within a short time, I had doubled and tripled my income from the same activities that I was doing” He mentioned. “I enlarged my project by constructing more rooms for poultry, just within the same area using the locally available materials that were not expensive. The project expanded than I had never thought before. I call the change agent methodology an eye opener” She added

Ntege says her life and her family’s life has extremely improved. She turned to be very creative in life that ever before. She managed to pay school fees for his children and some of them have completed university level. UCAA trained her in a number of areas that she acquired knowledge and skills in book keeping and conducting a number of trainings in various areas including group dynamics, gender and culture issues, communication skills and how women can excel in business among others.

“There is a great change since I was trained. I can talk and address the community. I can carry out trainings in the community on my own, I learnt that voluntarism is part of development, not every work should be for money, but rather aim at changing people’s lives. I have been elected in different places as a leader and have been a chairperson Board of Directors for a number of institutions. I was also elected to go to Tanzania to train the women groups in Arusha in Kirimanyo villages on how women can change their way of living” Ntege narrates.

Ntege has transformed a number people to positive attitude within her community and her family members have taken a good example. All are grateful for the Change Agent methodology.
